Botrivier Blomme is a micro urban flower farm and florist that utilizes permaculture principles and sustainable practises to grow their own flowers.

Landscaper and artist Francois Venter along with Hendrik Fourie an artist from the wine industry, combined their love and knowledge of plants with their talent for visual arts. Finding themselves in the moderate climate and ample soils of Botrivier, they established a flower garden and studio shop.

About a year and a half after the initial dream of Botrivier Blomme a garden of indigenous and exotic bloom inter planted with apple mint, protea and various shrubs and fruit baring trees and grasses now stands full of flowers and produce flowers for most of the year. Here bulbs are not lifted year after year, but left to develop naturally, no sprays are used to control pests, here the flowers rely on natural competition and inter planting to protect them from pests. Clever selection of which flowers bulbs to introduce to the garden also helped.

A variety of creatures can be seen through out the garden, bees, butterflies and frogs in the iris swamp are a common sight, here chameleons and a large number of bird species also frequent the garden.

The entire studio and garden is off grid, a medium size solar installation water well and pump serves for all the needs for the gardens and studio power needs.

In the studio along with the usual florist offering of flower stems, bunches and florist materials is a selection soap hand made by Hendrik, who also offers bespoke soap design and casting services. There is also a large selection of bulbs from the garden and plants available for purchase.
